Martha's Notes
Post Flirtation white (and red too, actually) always marks the beginning of harvest in mid-to-late August. The Muscat blanc, Roussanne, and Marsanne co-ferment are grown at Cecchini Family Vineyard, located outside of Oakley, Contra Costa County (affectionately CoCo). The weather and soils of CoCo are reminiscent of the Mediterranean, with a hot land mass, super duper sandy soils, and a near constant cooling wind coming off of the very cold, salty waters of the Carquinez Strait. The resulting wines are full of summer flavors, slightly salty, and extremely drinkable. Next in is Vermentino from Venturi Vineyard. Normally reserved for a singular bottling, in 2025 a portion of this intensely delicious, rich, dry farmed fruit made its way into Post Flirtation White 2025. The third and final component to arrive at the winery is our old-vine, dry-farmed Colombard (planted in 1948 by a six-year-old Tom Ricetti and his dad). I cannot overstate how rare an old-vine white grape vineyard in this incredible condition is in California. Almost regal in its qualities, Colombard from Ricetti Vineyard will always bring depth, grace, and elegance to any blend, and makes up a full half of the 2025 Post Flirtation white.

Roussanne, Marsanne, and Muscat blanc from Cecchini Family Vineyard (formerly The Urban Edge Farm), Knightsen, Contra Costa County; farmed according to organic principles (no pesticides, herbicides, or synthetic fertilizers); sandy clay soils.
Vermentino from Venturi Vineyard, Calpella, Mendocino County; dry-farmed (non-irrigated), certified organic vineyard; Pinole gravelly loam soils.
Colombard from Ricetti Vineyard, Redwood Valley, Mendocino County; planted in 1948 (by 6-year-old Tom Ricetti and his dad); head-trained, dry farmed (non-irrigated), certified organic vineyard; gravelly loam soils.
Vinification Notes:
On August 21, 2025 Muscat blanc and Marsanne were harvested eight days prior to Roussane. Each lot tumbled in the press to get just a hint of skin contact before pressing, then co-fermented in stainless steel and aged on fine lees for 10 months. Picked September 4th, Vermentino was pressed immediately, and fermented and aged for 10 months in neutral barrels and sandstone amphora. Colombard for Post Flirtation was picked earlier than that destined for Honeymoon, on September 19th, and fermented and aged on fine lees in stainless steel for 10 months. All components were blended and bottled in July 2026. Unfined. Filtered for stability.
